A few decade ago the Enigma machine was probably the best cipher device developed and used in the early- to mid-20th century to protect commercial, diplomatic and military communication. It became the most famous cipher device because it was employed extensively by Nazi Germany during World War II in all branches of the German military -the Enigma machine was considered so secure that it was used to encipher the most top-secret messages. During the second world war British cryptologists decrypted a vast number of messages enciphered on Enigma and one of the persons involved in that action was Alan Mathison Turing (23 June 1912 – 7 June 1954), a well know English mathematician, computer scientist, logician, cryptanalyst, philosopher and theoretical biologist because he was highly influential in the development of theoretical computer science and he was behind developing the first computer. A big one considering the space needed for it, a small one considered the processing power compared with the current computers, but a fully working computer.
From that computer to the one you are using to read this, whatever you are using, there were many types of processors and things that help people input and out data while the tehcnology evolved, and Derek Muller helps us understaning more about computers history using this video uploaded last year. So say thank you to the people working on them becausw without them you would have platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit or Youtube, not because they were developed with computers but the internet was also developed with computers and for the computer users.
