What really happened with Skype? A used it for a time a few years ago but it's long gone. That is not because I migrated to Linux, it's because I lost interest in Skype. It remained for a time installed on my desktop but not used then it... left.

It didn't leave but itself, it just left my PC. I sure didn't know then all the details said in the CNBC video but I find it usefull - a user or a ex-user like me may want to know.

At its height, Skype that is for me just another a telecommunications app founded by Scandinavian entrepreneurs Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis, and Estonian engineers Ahti Heinla, Priit Kasesalu, Jaan Tallinn and Toivo Annus – had 560 million registered users. In 2005, just two years after its launch, the app was acquired by eBay. Later, a majority stake was sold to private equity firm Silver Lake. Microsoft then acquired Skype in 2011 for $8.5 billion. While it was revolutionary in its time, Skype’s journey has been full of ups and downs. Now that Microsoft has rival Teams, the future of Skype is uncertain. CNBC explores the company’s past, present and what’s next for the company.

I am not sure if it's going to fall or rise in a competition world but I knoe Facebooks is next in falling.
