
The original television series ran from 1985 to 1989 and starred the late Edward Woodward as Robert McCall, a g-man turned private detective who spent his days helping out the weak and under-priviledged in an effort to make up for past dark deeds. Now, in this new movie, the former black ops commando who faked his death for a quiet life in Boston comes out of his retirement to rescue a young girl and finds himself face to face with Russian gangsters.
Robert McCall (Denzel Washington), a man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life, meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz - from Kick Ass movies), a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can't stand idly by - he has to help her. Armed with hidden skills that allow him to serve vengeance against anyone who would brutalize the helpless, Robsert McCall comes out of his self-imposed retirement and finds his desire for justice reawakened.
