How birds survived the dinosaur apocalypse

Whatever people are saying about the extinction that happened 65-66 million years ago, dinosaurs are not extinct, or at least not entirely extinct. Some of them are living with us, and one can say we are living among them because their number is probably much higher than us. We see them, we eat them, some have them as pets and they love them. Yup, pets. And, as you probably know or you saw in the title, we are giving the living dinosaurs a new name. Birds.

Birds have appeared sometime around 100 million years ago (give or take, the experts probably have a more precise number), they are the only dinosaurs still alive today, but how did they survive the asteroid? Most birds were wiped out, along with the rest of the dinosaurs and 75% of all life on Earth, but one group of birds made it through and they are still living.
