And they are fucking right: there are enough people abusing their power over the other people to get what they want or to make them do what they want, and that's bad. I haven't gone through such moment on either side but from what I've heard during the last years it's bad enough the let people scarred, so the urge to implement the zero-tolerance policy is a good thing.
The USA norms, adopted at the height of the abuse scandal there, say a priest will be permanently removed from church ministry based on even a single act of sexual abuse that is either admitted to or established under church law. That one strike and you’re out policy in the USA has long stood out as the toughest in the church but it's not something bad - probably some human predators will think twice before abusing other people.
