An important part of our society is defined by a long time race between the authorities that want to keep one order of things and the people that desire a different way to do thing around here (wherever „here” is over the world). I prefer to call it „race” instead of „battle” because, even if it have elements of both, the first ones that get the desired results and/or the solution of their always changing problems usually wins. I have no intention to list all the aspects of this race/battle, but online gambling is one of them and it's the subject of this article.
As you may already know the issue is not being settled around the world in the same way: different countries has different solutions to the same or similar problems, as the considered fit to their specific needs. As far as I know the gambling (no matter it's offline or online gambling) have never been completely legalized in the world. It is always kept under microscope by different groups inside the governments and they have all the reason: the huge quantities of money that are being moved through the system are tempting for everyone.
Tell me, when you bet money using online gambling and you win several times in a row you like it, right? How much? Enough that you put your all money into the system hoping you will get a huge fortune? There is no doubt that gambling (in any varieties) is a dangerous and addictive habit – if you think you get it right actually it's getting you. One moment or another you will lose, that's for sure. You can not beat the statistics, no matter how much you try. If you lose everything you have (a lot of people already did it) you will surely wish that you will never have heard about the online gambling and wish it completely outside the law and all the people dealing that punished. Don't take it personally, I wasn't referring to you personally - that's the human nature and it applies to all of us.
Some people might say there are a lot of reasons to get online gambling legalized. They are almost always working for the gambling industry – they want a piece of the cake and they would do everything to get a bigger piece. They might say that if the authorities completely legalize the online gambling it will become a legitimate industry and it will bring money to the state through tax revenues. That's true, but it might be in the expense of the citizens, and that is never good. One other reason is that you can treat easier the addiction, but that's a tricky problem. Finally they might say that if you can not completely beat it you must join it. Netherlands did something similar when the authorities over there legalized some of the easy drugs, but there is nothing easy about online gambling.
From my point the view, only the education can fully ease the life of online gamblers. The laws are tools to direct or punish uneducated people. You can try to get online gambling legalized, but it's a lost battle. Try to educate people to know their limits if you want the problems completely disappeared.
