King Charles leads tributes at D-Day 80th anniversary

France and Britain, two countries havily involved in the second world war, are holding commemorations marking the eightieth anniversary of the D-Day landings during the Second World War.

Being In Portsmouth in England, the king Charles called on people to live up to the freedom soldiers died for, paying tribute to surviving veterans. In France, president Macron also evoked the spirit of sacrifice at a ceremony in Brittany. It can be interesting to see two formery historical enemies being so goodd with each other (today and in the last century) after being involved in a war against Germany and Japan anomg others.

The D-Day landings saw 80 years ago troops from the UK, US, Canada and France attacking German forces in Normandy, northern France, during World War Two. It was the largest seaborne invasion ever attempted, and marked the start of the campaign to liberate Nazi-occupied north-west Europe.
