
As India’s general election is underway the BBC reporter has been speaking with influential voting blocs, amongst them being more than 18 million Indian first time voters heading to the polls. The country’s general election, which is being held over six weeks between 19 April and 1 June 2024, is the biggest the world has ever seen so far. With 1.4 billion people, India is the world’s most populous country and 969 million of its citizens are eligible to cast their ballot.
