Immunotherapy breakthrough offers new hope for cancer patients

Two weeks ago dr. Jon LaPook reported on new clinical trial findings that suggest some cancer patients could bypass chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery thanks to promising advances in immunotherapy, and CBS Mornings co-hosts Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson talked with him. The Guardian also approached the subject saying that the cancer patients in England to be first in Europe to be offered immunotherapy jab.

Up to 15.000 cancer patients a year could be given nivolumab in injectable form to treat 15 cancers including lung, bowel, kidney, bladder, oesophageal, skin and head and neck cancer, NHS England has announced. And you should not be worried about the subject, you should consider this only the beginning. In a few years, not so many, 15.000 cancer patients a day could be given the jab world wide and more than those 15 cancers would be treated.

NHS England is the first health service in Europe to offer patients the injectable form of the immunotherapy drug nivolumab. The injection takes only a few minutes to administer and it seems to be a good jab.
