The effect is that some users on Twitter who spend their days sharing that content say they are being paid "thousands of dollars" by the social media site. I don't know how many people are believing them, it can be the truth or just another lie in the presidential election, but the story was told on BBC News. The BBC identified networks of dozens of accounts that re-share each other's content multiple times a day to boost their reach, and therefore, revenue on the site. Some of these networks support Donald Trump, others Kamala Harris, and some are independent.
Of course, Twitter did not respond to questions about whether the site is incentivising users to post like this, nor to requests to interview the current owner named Elon Musk and I am not surprised. Twitter is going down since Elon bought an so called renamed the platform with the Roman number 10 (this is what X was 2 thounsand years ago) and it's going down more after Kamala Harris wins the 2024 USA presidential election.
