The floods were caused by a phenomenon known locally as DANA, a Spanish acronym for high-altitude isolated depression, in which cold and warm air meet and produce powerful rain clouds. And they will not be the only one flood, and not the only DANA, some other storms will be hitting again Europe with other floods and other victim, so keep yourself safe and take care to avoid the problems and the actions to create more problems.
The flash floods turned streets into rivers causing widespread destruction across affected areas - cars were swept away, homes destroyed, and power cut to many neighbourhoods. The Spanish residents of Utiel are now working to clean up the mud-covered streets left in the flood’s wake. Over 1.000 soldiers have been deployed to assist in rescue and recovery efforts and Spain’s transport minister reports that bodies remain trapped in cars left stranded by the floods.
