By observing and understanding the rich and complex social lives of wild chimpanzees, sometimes unique and often so similar to ours, Adrian Soldati will create an opportunity to look into a mirror to our ancient past while at the same time take a deeper look at the core of our modern social experiences. Can you interact with other animal in a similar ways you are interacting with humans? Adrian Soldati is a primatologist doing scientific research on animal behaviour and cognition. He focuses on studying the social behaviours of wild chimpanzees, including how they communicate with sounds and gestures and what this may tell us about the evolution of our language.
He has obtained his master in comparative psychology at the Univerity of St Andrews (UK), his PhD in biology at the University of Neuchâtel, and after a Postdoc in the UK he now holds a Postdoc position at the University of Zürich comparing bonobos and chimpanzees.
Adrian Soldati has a passion for photography, which helps him capture the rare moments he observed during his studies in the field, and he is talking in this TEDx Geneva about those experiences.
