The strong showing of Călin Georgescu, who has no party of his own and campaigned largely on the social media platform TikTok, came as the biggest surprise of the election. Many people watching the election preparations and the elections were not expected him to win the first round. The latest count suggests Eleba Lasconi is narrowly ahead of Marcel Ciolacu by around 2.000 votes and will face Călin Georgescu in a final run-off for the presidency on 8th December 2024.

With nearly all of the votes counted, the far right's Călin Gerogescu found himself with about 23% of votes, with center-right candidate Elena Lasconi just behind him. A run-off election will be held in two weeks to decide the winner un between them the Romanians will be voting the parliamentary elections and some party may be seening the yesterday round as a party mess with them being on the ground.
